Software Engineer III, Embedded Systems

Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies impacting billions of users. The Platforms and Devices team focuses on computing software platforms across desktop, mobile, and first-party devices integrating AI, software, and hardware to create innovative user experiences globally.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as C or C++, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

• Design and implement the thermal management framework across the bootloader, Linux kernel, and Android Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL).
• Integrate and debug the thermal software during new device bring-up.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Python, Shell) for executing thermal stress tests and simulating user workloads.
• Perform root cause analysis on thermal issues by analyzing test data and system logs.
• Develop key metrics (e.g., Time-to-Throttle, skin temperature compliance) to quantify and validate thermal performance.
