Senior IT Transition Project Manager – VMware to OpenShift Migration

This position involves working for a client who is a leader in enterprise IT solutions, supporting a migration project from VMware vSphere to Red Hat OpenShift in Krakow with a hybrid work model.

• Over 5 years experience directing complex technology transformation and migration projects.
• Proven expertise in migrating workloads from VMware vSphere to Red Hat OpenShift.
• Strong understanding of virtualization platforms (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) and container platforms (OpenShift).
• Exceptional skills in transition plan development, dependency management, and risk mitigation.
• Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
• Fluent communication skills in English.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of German language (spoken).
• Additional certifications or experience in cloud architecture or project management frameworks.

• Lead the end-to-end migration lifecycle, including discovery, planning, testing, cutover, and legacy decommissioning.
• Develop and maintain an integrated transition roadmap coordinating application, infrastructure, and security teams.
• Manage dependencies, risks, and project decisions to minimize disruption of critical business services.
• Oversee functional, performance, and resilience testing ensuring quality and compliance.
• Coordinate operational handover including support models, documentation, and incident procedures.
• Communicate progress and challenges via status reports and steering-committee presentations.
• Ensure stability, resilience, and security of new and migrated systems with high data quality standards.
• Support change management activities and collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.
