Senior FastAPI Developer

We build AI tools for firms in legal and professional services: software people use for real work, not demos. We started a few months ago and already have paying clients who rely on what we ship. The team is small and moving fast.

• At least seven years building backend systems that run in production.
• Consideration of failure modes, not just normal operation.
• Experience building or strong interest in building real LLM-powered systems, including RAG, tool-calling, and agents.
• Proficient use of AI coding tools with responsibility for code quality.
• Adaptability to startup environments with changing directions.
• Experience with Python (6+ years), FastAPI (3+ years), PostgreSQL/SQL, and Redis (2+ years).

Nice to have:

• Experience with RAG or vector search.
• Familiarity with LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Experience with streaming over SSE, WebSocket, or SignalR.
• Microsoft Graph and email integration work.

• Designing and building the APIs and services our products run on.
• Working on the AI plumbing: retrieval, orchestration, tool-calling, response streaming, and evaluation of output quality.
• Keeping asynchronous and distributed work reliable, including document ingestion, embeddings, and long-running jobs on Redis.
• Building integrations with client systems like email and document stores, ensuring they perform under load.
• Taking data security and isolation seriously due to handling confidential client material.
