Senior Rust Developer

Spyrosoft is hiring a Senior Rust Developer to join their in-house Qt Bridge for Rust team, focused on developing a library that enables building Qt Quick / QML user interfaces with a pure-Rust backend without requiring C++. The company specializes in Qt platform expertise with deep knowledge of meta-object systems, C++/QML engine internals, and code generation.

• Senior-level experience with Rust in production, including ownership/borrowing, smart pointers (Rc/RefCell/Weak), unsafe code, aliasing rules, Pin, and lifetime-parameterized APIs
• Experience with Rust ↔ C++ FFI, ideally using cxx, designing safe wrappers over C++ object lifetimes
• Procedural macro development experience using syn, quote, and proc-macro2, focusing on compile-error diagnostics
• Experience designing and stabilizing public Rust library APIs with idiomatic design, semver, and deprecation practices
• Cross-platform Rust build engineering including build.rs and linking native libraries on Linux, MSVC, and macOS
• Strong testing and quality habits including tests, cargo fmt, clippy, documented safety arguments, and rustdoc on public API
• Familiarity with threat modeling and security review for systems-level, memory-unsafe-adjacent code
• Working knowledge of Qt 6 features (QObject, properties, signals/slots, QVariant/QMetaType, QML object ownership) and comfortable reading/modifying C++17 code
• Comfortable with Gerrit-style, small-commit, review-heavy workflows
• Professional written and spoken English (B2 level)

• Contribute production-quality Rust (and where needed, C++) code, tests, and documentation to the QtBridge Rust repository
• Work on object-model, memory-safety, type-system, and macro-related issues
• Help design and stabilize a public library API including semver and breaking-change management
• Participate in structured threat analysis and security review of the Rust/C++ FFI interface
• Maintain cross-platform builds across Linux, MSVC, and macOS
• Conduct code reviews via Gerrit and collaborate closely with a Qt maintainer
• Keep Jira issues current and communicate daily with the team via chat/email and weekly sync calls

What's NOT part of this role:

• Changes to Qt modules like qtbase or qtdeclarative
• Product management, roadmap, or release ownership
• End-user support or community management
