Head of Engineering, Field Verification

The company is expanding its engineering presence in Poland as a strategic location for senior hires.

• Built software personally before transitioning into leadership; hands-on engineering background required.
• Competent across backend, web, and mobile disciplines.
• Experienced in building platforms serving multiple user groups and business units.
• Problem solver with adaptability; fintech, e-commerce, or logistics experience is a positive signal.
• Over 10 years of software engineering experience with strong backend expertise; backend environment uses Java and Spring Boot.
• At least 5 years in engineering leadership, including managing Engineering Managers.
• Collaborates well with product and business stakeholders.
• Experience with location and geospatial data, including map integrations, is a strong plus.
• Experience with route, trip, or delivery optimisation is a strong plus.
• Experience with compliance-focused data structuring is a strong plus.
• Experience with identity, KYC, or verification platforms is a plus but not required.

• Own the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Field Verification platform end to end.
• Transition the platform from keep-the-lights-on operation to prioritised development.
• Lead, grow, and build the cross-functional engineering team.
• Develop operational efficiency features including trip and route optimisation, task allocation, and capacity management for field officers.
• Manage the platform's client-facing APIs, webhooks, and back office tools.
• Deliver a native mobile experience for field officers.
• Ensure verification data is structured, auditable, and compliant.
• Build the platform for multi-country expansion.
• Collaborate closely with Product and business units like onboarding, loans, compliance, and fraud.
• Define architecture standards, engineering processes, quality metrics and hire engineers and Engineering Managers.
