Lead DevOps with German

This position is for a Lead DevOps Consultant supporting a strategic reliability and DevOps transformation initiative for a leading German organization. The role is fully remote within the EU with occasional travel to Nuremberg, Germany, and involves working on international projects with small teams in a flat organizational structure.

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Proven experience driving DevOps and reliability improvements across multiple teams or projects.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native environments and modern delivery practices.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and cloud platforms.
• Experience defining operational standards, reliability processes, and engineering best practices.
• Strong understanding of SLI, SLO, KPI, observability, and incident management concepts.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering leaders, architects, and business stakeholders.
• Experience working in large-scale or enterprise environments.
• Fluent German (B2+) and confident communication with stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have:

• Experience with SRE adoption initiatives.
• Experience introducing Error Budget practices.
• Experience building platform engineering capabilities.
• Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform certifications.
• Experience supporting organizational transformation initiatives.
• Experienced in using AI tools in day-to-day workflow.

• Drive DevOps and SRE best practices across multiple engineering teams.
• Define and improve reliability standards, KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs.
• Support the implementation of reliability-focused governance and operational processes.
• Improve incident management and operational excellence practices.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership on platform and reliability initiatives.
• Promote cloud-native and automation-first approaches.
• Act as a trusted advisor on DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering topics.
• Support long-term engineering transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is fully remote within the EU with occasional travel to Nuremberg, Germany (approximately 5-6 days per year).
