Kierownik Zespołu R&D - AI i Cyfrowy Bliźniak / AI & Digital Twin R&D Manager (k/m)

A1 Sorter develops innovative warehouse automation devices including sorters, conveyors, lifts, and specialist systems. The company operates dynamically across European markets and cooperates with leaders in warehouse logistics, focusing on innovation, efficiency with top components, and flexible customer-oriented solutions.

Technical skills:

• Minimum 5 years practical engineering experience in AI/ML or Digital Twin with documented production deployments
• Strong programming skills in Python; knowledge of C++ for real-time and embedded systems is a plus
• Practical knowledge of TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and full ML model lifecycle including embedded deployment (e.g., TFLite, ONNX)
• Experience with at least one Digital Twin or simulation platform (e.g., Ansys Twin Builder, Siemens MindSphere, MATLAB/Simulink, Azure Digital Twins, NVIDIA Omniverse)
• Ability to independently assess and make architectural decisions, credible in code/model reviews
• Higher technical education in automation, mechatronics, technical computer science, electrical engineering, robotics or related; PhD desirable but not required
• English language proficiency minimum B2

Management skills:

• At least 3 years experience managing technical teams as manager or tech lead
• At least 1 completed research project with budget and schedule management
• Team building and competency development skills including recruitment and onboarding

Nice to have:

• Scientific publications or patents in AI or simulation
• Experience with robotic systems (ROS, ROS2) or industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus)
• Knowledge of Silesian industrial environment (automotive, mining)

Technical engagement:

• Co-create and review AI/ML architectures for embedded platforms and robotic system digital twins
• Participate in key design decisions, balancing accuracy and performance, and validation methods selection
• Lead or supervise code and model reviews for critical system components
• Oversee validation and calibration of the digital twin with physical system data such as test data correlation, scenario tests, regression tests
• Evaluate and implement new tools, libraries, and simulation platforms to enhance fidelity and performance

Team and project management:

• Manage an interdisciplinary AI and Digital Twin team
• Plan, supervise, and manage schedule and budget
• Report progress to management and collaborate with Project Manager
• Recruit, onboard, and develop team members with mentoring

Collaboration and innovation culture:

• Cooperate with scientific staff in involved research institutions
• Foster a culture of experimentation and learning from failures typical in R&D projects
• Translate complex technical issues into understandable language for management and business stakeholders
