Principal Software Development Engineer (Databases)

Avid makes technology and collaborative tools used by creators in feature films, television, news, music, and live concerts.

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Extensive experience in C and C++ (STL, Boost, generics, algorithms, data structures), MS Visual Studio, Win32 API, and COM/DCOM.
• Experience with MS Windows Server/Cluster environments, Apache (including plugin/module flow), and development/debugging in virtualized environments like VMware.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and continuous integration/deployment using GitHub.
• Knowledge of REST concepts and architectures.
• Ability to analyze performance issues and design solutions for product scalability and stability.
• Effective communication with product owners and distributed teams; fluency in English.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Postgres and other SQL databases.
• Experience using AI-based development assistants (e.g., Microsoft Copilot).
• Programming skills in Golang.
• Experience deploying SaaS in the Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with monitoring solutions such as Prometheus.

• Understand complex end-to-end workflows and interaction models between and within web applications and backend services.
• Act as a strong technical contributor, translating high-level functional specifications into detailed design specifications.
• Coordinate development and deliverables with distributed teams worldwide.
• Investigate issues related to data integrity, performance, scalability, and system stability in virtualized environments.

The position is remote but requires working hours aligned with 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CET, Monday to Friday, and is limited to candidates located in Poland.
