Cloud Engineer

At Remitly, the Cloud Team designs, builds, and operates Remitly's AWS cloud foundation focusing on networking fabric and infrastructure tooling for product teams and payments partners. They manage cloud infrastructure at significant scale, ensuring reliability, security, and operational excellence. The team supports developers and AI agents as users of the platform. Remitly is a global financial services company focused on secure and reliable money movement with over 2,800 employees worldwide.

• Deep knowledge of cloud networking including VPC design, subnetting, routing, Transit Gateway, DNS, and load balancing.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP and network traffic flow analysis with troubleshooting skills.
• Strong hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform.
• Minimum 3 years in cloud engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure with hands-on AWS experience.
• Experience operating production infrastructure with best practices for versioning, deployment, and CI/CD.
• Familiarity with edge services (CloudFront, WAF, Shield) and partner connectivity (VPN, Direct Connect, BGP) is a plus.
• Understanding of multi-account governance and organizational tooling.
• Kubernetes/EKS familiarity is a plus.
• Willingness and desire to grow into coding, especially in Golang (Go). Existing backend/scripting experience is a plus.

• Design, build, and evolve Remitly's cloud networking in Terraform, including VPC design, subnetting, routing, Transit Gateway, DNS, and load balancing across multi-account, multi-region topology.
• Own and operate partner and bank connectivity networks such as VPNs (IPSec/IKEv2), Direct Connect, and BGP routing.
• Help operate and improve edge infrastructure including CloudFront, AWS Shield, WAF configurations, and CDN failover.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues using knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, routing, and traffic flow analysis.
• Write clean, modular, and reviewable Terraform code and improve infrastructure versioning, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Deliver well-scoped infrastructure work independently and end to end.
• Contribute to multi-account governance and abstractions benefiting developers and AI agents.
• Collaborate with SRE, Security, and Platform teams to embed observability, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Participate in on-call rotations and occasional late syncs with other teams.
