Sr./Staff Backend Engineer - Java (Poland)

Oscilar is building an advanced AI Risk Decisioning™ Platform serving banks, fintechs, and digitally native organizations to manage fraud, credit, and compliance risk using AI.

• 5+ years of backend development with deep expertise in Java and its ecosystem.
• Proven experience delivering work from concept to production with minimal supervision.
• Solid experience building and operating low-latency, high-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, microservices, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with event streaming and data systems (Kafka, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Redis).
• Good understanding of API design and security best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience working asynchronously using tools like Slack, Notion, Linear, and GitHub.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Flink, Temporal, or Databricks.
• Background in fintech, fraud prevention, risk, or payments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related.
• Experience using AI coding agents such as Claude Code in daily development.

• Own features end to end: design, build, ship using GitHub Actions, feature flags with LaunchDarkly, and maintain production quality.
• Build and scale core Java services with focus on latency and reliability.
• Work on real-time streaming and data systems including Kafka, Flink, ClickHouse, and Databricks.
• Build reliable processes with workflow orchestration tools like Temporal.
• Make architectural decisions, propose trade-offs, and write design documents.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and customer teams to understand requirements.
• Own production monitoring, performance tuning, and root cause fixes.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing to raise engineering standards.
