Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux)

Sopra Steria is one of the largest players in the tech industry in Europe, providing consulting, digital services, and software development. Their Polish Global Delivery Center in Katowice operates since 2007 with around 1,000 specialists. The Digital Platform Services department specializes in cloud, operating systems, virtualization, databases, backup, storage, networking, and security, supporting international clients.

Must have requirements:

• At least 6 years of experience in general IT positions.
• Hands-on experience in Linux systems administration with strong Linux administration skills.
• Hands-on experience in DevOps.
• Knowledge of Ansible and GitLab.
• Fluent English at B2/C1 level.
• Availability to work on a 5-month project starting November.
• Openness to visits in office locations in Katowice or Gdańsk.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to document processes and share knowledge effectively.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed technical teams.

Nice to have:

• Experience in PHP development and scripting.
• Knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB databases.
• French language proficiency is a strong advantage.
• Experience with network configuration tools such as TACACS and RANCID.
• Experience with Perl.
• Experience with AI.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with Webservices.

• System administration of Linux-based servers (Ubuntu, RHEL).
• Installation, maintenance, and updates of infrastructure-level software and services.
• Ensuring server-network communication including DNS, routing, firewalls, and syslog.
• Automating processes using Ansible, Bash scripting, and Python.
• Maintenance of virtualized environments using VMware vSphere.
• Handling incident resolution and supporting performance optimization.
• Participating in knowledge transfer, supervised practice, and gaining autonomy.
• Providing source code support including compilation, installation, and configuration in the new platform.
• Assisting with production deployment and validating correct operation through functional testing.

This role is available only for candidates based in Poland. The employment period is fixed-term for 5 months starting November 1st, 2026. The position requires willingness to work a three-shift schedule: 08:00–16:00, 09:00–17:00, and 10:00–18:00. Candidates must be open to visits in offices located in Katowice or Gdańsk.
