Podsumowanie oferty

You will assess and stabilise Proxmox VE environments supporting a private cloud platform for government and regulated-market customers in the Netherlands. You will work with a Dutch engineering team to correct issues, validate capacity and recovery, and transfer operational knowledge to the client’s engineers.

Wymagania

10+ years in IT infrastructure and virtualisation, including at least 2 years with Proxmox VE in production.
Strong hands-on experience with Proxmox VE in production, including cluster setup, configuration and upgrades.
Experience with the storage layer behind Proxmox and an understanding of its performance characteristics.
Advanced Linux system administration, particularly Debian-based distributions.
Networking in a virtualisation context, including bridges, bonds, VLANs and SDN, and ability to troubleshoot across compute, storage and network layers.
Capacity and performance analysis, including judging whether an environment is correctly sized for its load and supporting that judgement with data.
Production backup and restore experience, including verifying that restores work.
Scripting for automation using Bash, Python or Ansible.
Experience assessing an environment you did not build and documenting findings in a form the client can act on.
English at C1 level; it is the working language with the client.
Works independently from an open-ended question, deciding what needs checking and in what order.
Communicates findings clearly, including uncomfortable findings, and distinguishes critical issues from lower-priority items.
Teaches the operational engineer to run the environment after the assignment.
Keeps people informed about progress and flags delays early.
Builds working relationships remotely through reliability and clear communication.

Nice to have:

Understanding of OpenStack and how it uses the underlying infrastructure.
Experience with other virtualisation platforms, including VMware and KVM/libvirt, and with migrations between them.
Experience with Ceph at scale.
Infrastructure as code experience with Ansible or Terraform.
Experience working in a regulated or government environment.
Any level of Dutch.

Obowiązki

Assess the existing Proxmox VE environments—including cluster configuration, storage, networking, HA and backup—against good practice, and document the findings.
Identify configuration gaps, single points of failure and operational risks, and propose concrete remediation.
Verify sizing and capacity against actual and expected load, and identify where the environment will not hold.
Implement agreed corrections and improvements, and confirm they work.
Validate backup and restore, including whether recovery works end to end.
Work with the OpenStack team to ensure the Proxmox layer supports the platform above it.
Produce documentation and runbooks for others to use.
Work alongside the client’s operational engineer, transferring knowledge through shared day-to-day work.
Report progress and findings directly to the client’s engineers and managers in the Netherlands.
