Software Engineer, GCE Control Plane, Early Careers, PhD

Google Cloud delivers enterprise-grade solutions leveraging Google's cutting-edge technology to help organizations digitally transform their business. The GCE Control Plane team develops tools, frameworks, and release processes to improve the reliability of Google Compute Engine services and accelerate feature releases for 300+ engineers across 15+ teams globally.

• PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• Experience working with data structures or algorithms during coursework, projects, research, internships, or practical experience.

Preferred qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in infrastructure automation, cloud platforms (particularly Google Cloud/GCE), CI/CD systems, or managing large-scale testing/staging environments.
• Experience leveraging AI/ML in solving Developer Experience/DevOps related problems.

• Manage API test coverage gaps discovery and test auto generation for complex compute workloads.
• Create and run virtual machines on Google infrastructure.
• Develop tools, frameworks, and release processes that empower Control Plane developers to efficiently release software for new Compute features.
