Architect - Staff Software Engineer

We are an e-commerce platform and a network of travel agencies offering a wide range of travel products. Since 2015, we have been part of Wirtualna Polska Holding – Poland’s largest group of media and e-commerce companies. Together with Travelplanet.pl and the Invia brands across CEE, we are building a unified travel group driven by a shared #TravelMindset.

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in an architecture or principal engineering role spanning multiple teams or systems.
• Proven ownership of end-to-end architecture for cross-cutting or platform domains like infrastructure, observability, developer platforms, or shared services.
• Deep experience designing and evolving distributed systems at scale including service boundaries, integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and API design.
• Ability to produce and maintain living architectural documentation such as C4 models, ADRs, ERDs, and sequence diagrams.
• Experience defining and enforcing engineering standards across multiple teams with measurable adoption.
• Demonstrated ability to engage non-technical stakeholders and translate business intent into technical requirements and trade-offs.
• Strong communication and influencing skills to drive architectural decisions without direct authority.
• Comfortable operating within governed multi-team environments, experienced with Architecture Boards, decision escalation, and ADR practices.
• Familiarity with modern frontend architecture patterns including React, SSR, Next.js, and Backend for Frontend (BFF) for credible engagement with frontend teams.

Nice to have:

• Experience within or adapting scaled agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, or similar) in principal engineering or architect roles.
• Hands-on experience designing or productionizing AI/ML systems such as LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with travel, e-commerce, or marketplace platform architectures especially search, booking, or payments domains.
• Experience building or operating internal developer platforms, golden paths, or shared engineering toolchains.
• Contribution to or maintenance of technology radars, vendor evaluation frameworks, or organization-wide standards programs.
• Experience defining and operationalizing SLOs at platform level including instrumentation, alerting, and reliability reviews.

• Own the end-to-end architecture of an assigned system or customer journey step, maintaining current-state assessment and a sequenced, costed roadmap toward the target architecture.
• Produce and maintain architectural documentation: C4 models (L1/L2), Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), ERDs, and sequence diagrams.
• Act as a named decision authority on the Architecture Board, assessing proposals, resolving cross-slice conflicts, and escalating significant decisions.
• Lead vendor and technology evaluations; validate proposals against target architecture and recommend or block technologies with documented rationale.
• Treat AI as a core design ingredient, driving adoption, maintaining an inventory of AI components, and ensuring use aligns with sanctioned patterns.
• Engage with product, commercial, and operations stakeholders to translate business problems into technical requirements and design outcomes.
• Own and enforce engineering standards within the slice, serving as a designated responsible individual (DRI) for at least one standard.
• Define SLIs and SLOs for the slice, review breach trends, and collaborate with Engineering Managers on quarterly reliability improvement goals.
• Coordinate with adjacent Architects to eliminate integration debt and duplication.
• Teach architectural patterns, engineering standards, and AI guidelines organization-wide and measure adoption.
• Provide technology and design input to Engineering Managers and teams on architecture decisions, integration patterns, and major refactors.
