Staff Software Engineer, Cluster Orch (Non SUNK)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with expertise in distributed systems or cloud platforms.
• Strong development proficiency in Go.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals, scheduling mechanisms, Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), and controller-based architectures.
• Experience designing or scaling orchestration, scheduling, or hardware resource-management platforms.
• Proven leadership in technical initiatives across distributed teams.
• Operational experience owning and stabilizing mission-critical production systems at scale.

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes-native orchestration frameworks such as Kueue, Volcano, Ray.
• Background in AI infrastructure, ML platforms, HPC, or large-scale multi-tenant batch systems.
• Understanding advanced scheduling concepts including fair-share, pre-emption, quota management, and multi-tenant resource isolation.
• Experience defining and operating SLOs, capacity modeling, and infrastructure reliability improvements.
• Contributions to open-source infrastructure or orchestration projects.

• Own the technical vision and architecture for major portions of the Kubernetes-native orchestration platform.
• Define how AI workloads are admitted, scheduled, and governed across large GPU clusters.
• Apply systems thinking to address performance, scalability, and fairness at scale.
• Lead cross-team architecture reviews.
• Drive technical alignment across infrastructure, CKS, and managed inference teams.
• Establish platform-wide standards for reliability, capacity management, and developer experience.
• Mentor senior engineers across the organization.
