Staff Software Engineer, Platform(Java)

Sprout Social is a company with an Engineering team consisting of cross-functional teams spanning mobile, front-end, back-end, and site reliability engineering. The team processes tens of billions of requests and asynchronous events daily, ships over 1,000 production deployments monthly, and works on a suite of social media products.

• 7+ years of experience developing and supporting software in production environments.
• 5+ years experience programming in object-oriented languages such as Java, Python, C#, or C++.
• 3+ years experience leading engineering projects including design, development, implementation of distributed systems, and driving technical vision.
• Professional proficiency in English (verbal and written).

• 5+ years developing scalable, distributed backend services.
• Experience with cloud computing technologies like AWS or GCP.
• 3 years experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Professional proficiency in Polish (verbal and written).

• Ensure service excellence and maintain robust, scalable technical foundations using technologies such as Java, Python, MySQL, NSQ, Hbase, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Lead the team through complex product and technical roadmaps to achieve successful outcomes.
• Improve processes, systems, and tools to deliver quality products and champion technical initiatives.
• Build processes to proactively identify and address technical issues or escalate them.
• Provide technical mentoring to engineers through pairing, documentation, and workshops.
• Lead initiatives as the access domain’s technical owner, coordinate with stakeholders, and assume responsibility for quality of service.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX developers, back-end and front-end engineers to deliver features with iterative milestones.
• Participate actively in code reviews and retrospectives, providing guidance and feedback.
• Design, create, and maintain access platform solutions that scale cost-effectively.
• Enhance existing monitoring and alerting tools to detect problems proactively.
• Identify and address technical debt and performance bottlenecks.
• Lead technical design planning and peer review for new features.
• Mentor engineers to support their technical growth.
• Own cross-organizational projects and architecture with strong leadership.
• Communicate transparently to mitigate risks of failed delivery and missed deadlines.

This role is open for candidates residing in Poland; remote work is supported within Poland. Candidates outside Poland or other EMEA locations are not currently eligible for hire. Language proficiency requirements include professional English and preferred Polish.
