Internal Tools Engineer

We are a stealth-stage fund and tech startup operating at the intersection of alternative markets and quantitative strategy. Backed by experienced operators and growing quickly, we are building the infrastructure to scale a high-performance, data-driven business. We are a lean team with outsized ambition.

• Experience as an engineer supporting an operations team, preferably building internal systems early in a startup.
• Strong writing skills to explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical audiences and provide specific status updates on time.
• Operations-oriented mindset that prioritizes practical fixes over complex but ineffective solutions.
• Broad skill set encompassing application development, third-party tool integrations, data modeling, and necessary infrastructure management.
• Effective use of AI tooling to enhance productivity.
• Ability to work autonomously and reliably in a remote setting, with self-setting priorities and proactive problem flagging.
• Care and discretion when handling sensitive data and money-adjacent workflows.

Nice to have:

• Experience inheriting undocumented systems and making them reliable.
• Background in operations-heavy sectors like logistics, fintech onboarding, or marketplaces.
• Knowledge of payments, reconciliation, or multi-account financial tools.
• Familiarity with Notion, Discord, Google Workspace, Airtable, and lightweight project management tools.
• Interest in startups, investing, alternative markets, or behavioral strategy.

• Take over existing internal systems, properly document them, and ensure they are not dependent on any single person.
• Build data capture and reporting systems to provide leadership with essential business metrics.
• Transform important workflows currently managed in spreadsheets into platform-based systems.
• Identify constraints in workflows and remove them by prioritizing development efforts effectively.
• Provide clear, concise weekly written updates with honest dates and early warnings for slips.
• Work directly with the founder without intermediary layers.
