Data Discovery Engineer

• Experience supporting enterprise applications in Windows environments.
• Knowledge of file systems and storage technologies, including NAS.
• Understanding of CIFS/SMB protocols.
• Practical knowledge of NTFS permissions and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
• Understanding of Active Directory and authentication mechanisms.
• Experience diagnosing application performance and infrastructure issues.
• Hands-on knowledge of PowerShell.
• Familiarity with SQL.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to complex technical issues.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and Agile ways of working.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Arctera Data Insight (formerly Veritas Data Insight).
• Experience with Symantec Data at Rest (DAR).
• Experience with data discovery, classification, or data security enterprise solutions.
• Experience with large-scale NAS environments.
• Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability concepts.
• Familiarity with common cybersecurity frameworks.

• Manage day-to-day administration and operational support of platforms for unstructured data scanning and classification.
• Plan and coordinate application upgrades, patches, and configuration changes, including pre-implementation testing.
• Diagnose and resolve application, performance, and infrastructure-related problems.
• Monitor health, capacity, and availability of supported services.
• Assist with integrating and onboarding new storage environments and data repositories.
• Investigate incidents and conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
• Collaborate with Windows, Storage, and Cybersecurity teams on technical challenges.
• Cooperate with software vendors on complex issues, troubleshooting, and fix verification.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
• Participate in testing new functionality, releases, and application changes.
• Contribute to automation activities through scripting.
• Provide on-call support when required.
