Workplace Architect (File Share to SharePoint migration)

Cyclad works with top international IT companies delivering cutting edge technologies. This role is for a SharePoint Online Migration Technical Lead responsible for a large-scale File Share to SharePoint Online and Azure Bulk migration program.

• Deep expertise in Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online architecture.
• Extensive hands-on experience with large-scale File Share to SharePoint Online migrations.
• Strong knowledge of SharePoint information architecture, governance, permissions and security, metadata, retention, compliance, and content lifecycle management.
• Practical experience with ShareGate, Quest, and migration factory methodologies.
• Proven experience designing and executing migration waves, pilot migrations, cutover plans, rollback strategies, and data remediation approaches.
• Experience with high-volume, high-capacity migrations involving hundreds of terabytes and millions of files.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex migration scenarios and remediation.
• Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and translate requirements into scalable migration solutions.
• Strong communication skills working effectively with technical SMEs, project teams, and senior stakeholders.

• Review, challenge, and optimize the existing SharePoint Online target architecture, information structure, governance model, and migration strategy.
• Validate overall migration readiness and define the migration roadmap and wave-based migration approach.
• Analyze complex migration scenarios and technical blockers such as long file paths, unsupported characters, large file volumes, permission inheritance issues, macros in Excel files, and other limitations.
• Define data remediation, exception handling, and migration standards for problematic content.
• Guide and mentor the SharePoint SME in setup, configuration, and optimization of migration tooling, including Quest, ShareGate, and supporting utilities.
• Design pilot migration scenarios including success criteria, test procedures, validation approaches, rollback plans, and cutover activities.
• Lead up to two pilot migrations, analyze results, and optimize architecture, tooling, and processes.
• Provide technical governance and leadership during initial production migration waves.
• Ensure migration activities comply with quality, security, governance, and compliance standards.
• Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and migration-related issues.
• Facilitate technical workshops and communicate migration decisions and risks to stakeholders.
• Support strategic decisions related to target platforms, archiving, content consolidation, data remediation, and migration prioritization.
• Establish and maintain migration standards, best practices, and technical documentation throughout the program.
