Principal Software Development Engineer (Enabling Functions - Colleague)

Tesco Technology is hiring for its Enabling Functions - Colleague technology team, which delivers solutions for over 300,000 colleagues globally. The role is based in Kraków and involves hybrid work with office collaboration three days a week. • 10+ years in software development with proven senior or principal engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, and Java.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and distributed computing.
• Experience with Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Proven ability in designing scalable mobile and web applications focused on usability, performance, and responsiveness.
• Experience operating effectively in large, enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with enterprise HR or colleague-focused systems such as Oracle HCM or Zellis.

• Drive architecture and design across multiple systems, ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
• Partner with product managers, architects, and business stakeholders to understand colleague needs and shape technology roadmaps.
• Introduce new tools, frameworks, and approaches to enhance development speed, quality, and performance.
• Mentor and guide software engineers and tech leads across squads; promote engineering best practices and continuous improvement.
• Lead the evolution of core colleague platforms including integrations with internal and third-party systems.
• Ensure high system availability, performance, and data integrity through robust DevOps practices and incident management.
