Software Engineer

Cisco's Webex Engineering Group builds collaboration products like Slido, Webex Meetings, Webex Calling, and Webex Contact Center, aiming to empower hybrid working patterns with a focus on seamless user experience across devices. The team is based in Bratislava, operating a hybrid working model.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent internship/project experience.
• Foundational knowledge of backend development and production environments.
• Solid understanding of software development and architecture concepts with a willingness to learn new technologies quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Java, Node.js, JavaScript, or Python.
• Exposure to web application frameworks and persistence technologies such as Spring, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Kafka.
• Familiarity with Git, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and continuous delivery.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools (e.g., Codex, Cursor, Copilot).
• Eagerness to learn debugging and production issue resolution.
• Ability to apply creative skills to complex problems.
• Flexibility and strong communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous learning and quality.

• Design, implement, and maintain software features and product improvements for backend services with guidance from senior team members.
• Contribute to distributed, highly available microservice architectures.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design discussions, code reviews, and testing.
• Improve system performance, reliability, and observability by identifying and resolving technical issues.
• Leverage AI coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate productivity and learning.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product management, and SRE/DevOps teams.
• Participate in incident resolution and learn from production issues through postmortems.
