Software Engineer (Splunk)

Cisco is a global technology company innovating for over 40 years, focusing on data and infrastructure connectivity and security solutions in the AI era. The role is within the App Deployment Team responsible for application management on the Splunk platform, which supports organizational processes critical to customer, partner, and employee engagement.

• Strong motivation to learn, improve technical skills, and grow as a software engineer.
• Knowledge of Python and/or Go, or another modern programming language, with eagerness to grow in Python and Go.
• Beneficial hands-on experience with React or another modern front-end framework.
• Understanding or willingness to learn various automated test levels: unit, functional, and integration tests.
• Problem-solving, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have:

• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and interest in API design.

• Participate in the design, implementation, and delivery of long-term-impact software following existing system architecture.
• Maintain and debug existing technology stacks.
• Collaborate with product management, architects, and user experience teams to build features, reusable components, and products.
• Build, analyze, and optimize backend services primarily in Python and Go emphasizing simplicity, efficiency, reliability, and performance.
• Contribute to React-based user interfaces and reusable front-end components when aligned with interests and expertise.
• Learn and improve existing codebases judiciously, seeking guidance as needed.
• Follow Agile software development lifecycle focusing on testing, observability, and operational excellence.
