Product Engineer / Product Builder - Backend or Full-stack

At Profitroom, we build hospitality software used by thousands of hotels and millions of guests. Product Engineers own technical solutions end-to-end: from understanding the problem and contributing to technical discovery, through implementation, testing, release, production and continuous improvement.

• Strong commercial experience with PHP and Laravel or Symfony for backend-led profile
• Experience designing backend systems, business logic, data modeling, REST APIs, and integrations
• Experience with microservices, event-driven systems, or distributed architectures
• Practical knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, MongoDB), caching (Redis), and message queues (RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and production infrastructure
• Openness to work with JavaScript or TypeScript outside backend tasks
• For full-stack profile: strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Vue.js, and practical knowledge of Tailwind and Pinia or equivalents
• Commercial experience with PHP and Laravel also required for full-stack
• UX sensibility, noticing interaction and accessibility issues
• Hands-on experience with AI coding environments like Claude Code, Cursor

Nice to have:

• Experience building and shipping side projects
• Active independent use and development of AI tool workflows
• Built MCP servers, agents or AI tooling
• Experience with Event Sourcing and CQRS in production
• Contributions to design systems or component libraries
• Experience designing caching, queues, service boundaries, or complex integrations
• Experience owning products or features end-to-end

Backend-led Product Engineer:

• Design backend systems beyond implementing predefined endpoints
• Develop solutions with strong understanding of business logic, data modeling, REST APIs, and integrations
• Work with microservices, event-driven systems, or distributed architectures
• Manage relational and non-relational databases, caching, and message queues
• Use Docker, CI/CD, and production infrastructure
• Collaborate and contribute to frontend tasks using JavaScript or TypeScript when needed

Full-stack Product Engineer:

• Deliver frontend and backend changes as part of the same feature
• Develop with TypeScript, JavaScript, and Vue.js
• Utilize component architecture, state management, performance, and maintainable frontend systems
• Use Tailwind and Pinia or comparable tools
• Work with APIs, business logic, databases, caching, and backend integrations
• Maintain UX sensibility identifying interaction problems and accessibility issues

AI-native engineering:

• Use Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent AI coding environments for technical discovery, test generation, debugging, codebase exploration, and specification-driven development
• Develop MCP servers, agents, skills, or internal AI tooling

General:

• Ship software used by real customers and stay close to understand issues and improvements
• Understand customer and business problems deeply before solving them
• Own problems end-to-end rather than executing fully specified tickets
• Communicate technical trade-offs and business rationale clearly
• Ensure quality beyond code review and QA handoff
• Use AI tools as natural extensions of work
• Work beyond primary technical areas to deliver better outcomes
• Evaluate worth and outcomes before implementation
