Engineering Manager — Change Systems

Netflix is a leading entertainment service with over 300 million paid memberships globally. Platform Modernization Engineering (PME) at Netflix designs and runs large-scale migration and modernization campaigns. The Change Systems team develops platforms that enable fleet-wide change at Netflix, automating and validating change processes across many engineering teams and repositories.

• Experience building and operating platform systems for large-scale, business-critical use cases.
• Strong technical acumen in distributed systems and developer platforms.
• Experience building and leading inclusive engineering teams.
• Long-term strategic thinking and platform mindset.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and influence senior stakeholders.
• Rigor in decision-making using data and stakeholder input.
• Fluency with AI-assisted engineering and GenAI-driven code transformation.
• Strong technical writing skills with experience driving complex cross-functional projects.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with large-scale code migration or modernization campaigns.
• Experience with fleet-management, dependency graph, or service catalog systems.
• Background in platform or infrastructure engineering.
• Familiarity with Java or Python in backend services.
• Experience designing platforms with agent-first consumers and API-driven provisioning.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS (EC2, S3, EKS/Kubernetes).

• Act as a System Architect driving technical architecture and component integration.
• Define vision and strategy as the Product Manager for Campaigns experience.
• Identify needs, incorporate feedback, and align with stakeholders.
• Support organizational change and advocate for scale change approaches.
• Partner with Organization Champions, Campaign Managers, and leaders to set vision and adoption paths.
• Own technical architecture direction for a composable, declarative platform.
• Serve as technical advisor and escalation point for cross-domain technical decisions.
• Drive AI-first engineering practices including AI-assisted code modification.
• Define adoption and adherence metrics and prioritize work using campaign data.
• Manage operational excellence including on-call duties and telemetry.
• Communicate complex technical and product tradeoffs to diverse stakeholders.
• Lead, hire, coach, and develop the engineering team fostering accountability and inclusion.
