Senior Software Engineer 5 — Validation & Safety Platform

The Validation & Safety Platform is part of the System Health, Validation & Insights Platform group in Productivity Engineering at Netflix. The team focuses on catching safety and correctness regressions in human-written or agent-generated code before it reaches production. They run validation and safety gates for an autonomous agent fleet that writes, tests, refactors, and deploys code continuously across every domain.

• Experienced in building and operating platforms used by other engineering teams, with understanding of platform versus API ownership.
• Advanced user of agentic coding tools including hooks, MCPs, and context management.
• Working knowledge of agent sandboxing, scoping, and data redaction.
• Strong communication skills, able to document technical tradeoffs for engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
• Advocate for strong testing culture, familiar with test frameworks, code coverage tooling, CI systems, and post-deployment verification.

Nice to have:

• Experience designing or operating developer-platform infrastructure like distribution, CI/CD, or versioning systems.
• Experience with LLM-based evaluation systems.
• Hands-on with mutation testing, static analysis, or test-selection systems at scale.
• Experience sandboxing or scoping agent access to sensitive systems or data.

• Design and build validation and safety products used platform-wide: test generation, coverage, safeguards, deterministic and predictive test selection, and mutation testing at scale.
• Build the polyglot static analysis layer for automated, language-agnostic quality gating of agent-generated code.
• Develop agent-specific safety signals such as detecting prompt flakiness, evaluating agent trajectories against execution traces, and scoring semantic correctness of agent-generated code.
• Define clear platform capabilities and make deliberate build-versus-buy, build-versus-extend decisions as the platform evolves.
• Apply judgment on agent sandboxing, scoping, and data redaction wherever the platform gives agents access to test infrastructure or execution environments.
