Senior Functional Consultant

emagine Polska is hiring for a senior functional role involved in a large-scale international POS rollout program, focused on retail and store technology environments, based in Bucharest with hybrid work.

• Minimum 8 years of experience as a Functional Consultant, Senior Business Analyst, or similar role.
• Extensive experience with complex software systems in international retail or store technology.
• Deep functional knowledge of retail, checkout, and POS systems.
• Strong understanding of POS processes, system behavior, functional components, integrations, and operational dependencies.
• Knowledge of end-to-end retail processes including checkout, sales, returns, discounts, promotions, receipts, cash management, and store operations.
• Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into detailed functional designs.
• Skilled in assessing requirements against platform capabilities identifying standard or customized solutions.
• Experience in identifying and managing functional gaps in rollout programs.
• Familiarity with fiscal, legal, and regulatory POS system requirements.
• Strong grasp of functional integration patterns within POS ecosystems.
• Experience leading discovery workshops, design sessions, and stakeholder interviews.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving with root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to evaluate solutions based on business value, feasibility, scalability, and maintainability.
• Proficient documentation skills for specifications, flows, rules, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience collaborating with product managers, solution architects, engineering, integration, and QA teams.
• Strong background in Agile software delivery and international rollout processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills.
• Effective communication with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Very good written and verbal English skills.

• Experience in large-scale international POS transformations or rollouts.
• Understanding of country-specific fiscalization requirements and related technical constraints.
• Experience with fiscal devices, transaction reporting, electronic receipts, or tax authority integrations.
• Knowledge of payment systems, terminals, EFT integrations.
• Experience with POS peripherals like printers, scanners, scales, cash drawers.
• Understanding of POS integrations with ERP, pricing, promotion, inventory, master data, loyalty, or order management systems.
• Experience with template governance, localization and global-versus-local decisions.
• Support for system integration testing, user acceptance testing, cutover, hypercare, and production stabilization.
• Mentoring experience for Business Analysts or junior Functional Consultants.

• Lead functional discovery activities for country rollouts including analysis of checkout processes, fiscal requirements, payment methods, integrations, and operational constraints.
• Provide functional leadership during discovery, solution design, implementation, testing, and rollout phases.
• Analyze country-specific requirements and assess their impact on the standard POS solution and system landscape.
• Promote and ensure adoption of the global standard POS solution.
• Challenge local deviations and customization requests when standardized processes or existing platform capabilities suffice.
• Identify, assess, document, and validate functional gaps between country needs and the standard solution.
• Differentiate legal, fiscal, operational, critical gaps from local preferences or non-essential deviations.
• Cluster and categorize gaps for prioritization, governance, and architectural decisions.
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional designs, solution concepts, process flows, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
• Define implementation within existing POS capabilities and constraints.
• Evaluate solution options and recommend based on feasibility, scalability, maintainability, standardization, and business value.
• Serve as senior functional interface among country stakeholders, discovery squads, product teams, solution architects, engineering, integration, and rollout teams.
• Explain retail and POS processes to technical teams and system capabilities to business stakeholders.
• Support technical solution design and implementation with functional guidance.
• Review technical solutions for alignment with business requirements and global standards.
• Support design of POS integrations involving payments, EFT, fiscalization, peripherals, and connected retail systems.
• Provide input for rollout planning, dependency and prioritization decisions.
• Support root cause analysis and resolution of country-specific defects, issues, and rollout problems.
• Identify sustainable solutions minimizing customization and complexity.
• Define or review functional test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and end-to-end process validations.
• Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect analysis, and go-live readiness.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of requirements, designs, decisions, assumptions, dependencies, and functional flows.
• Mentor Business Analysts and junior functional team members where needed.
