Staff Engineer Python

• 10+ years of experience in Python development.
• Previous Staff or Principal Engineer experience at a startup.
• Leadership experience leading teams and ambiguous projects from concept to delivery.
• Strong Python Asyncio experience.
• Strong software design skills.
• Deep understanding of networking protocols and operating systems.
• Deep knowledge of Python profiling.
• Experience with production-grade cloud-based distributed systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Helm.
• Experience with observability stacks.
• Strong LLM prompting skills.
• Experience with gRPC and troubleshooting.
• BSc in Software Development or equivalent experience.
• Resilience in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Strong ownership and independence.
• Ability to translate incomplete requirements into products.

Nice to have:

• Prior SOC 2 technical responsibility experience.
• Knowledge of WebRTC, STUN/TURN, SIP, RTP, HLS, RTMP.
• Experience with strongly typed languages: Rust, C++, Go, Swift, Java.
• Experience in real-time low-level systems (kernel, drivers, RTOS).
• Audio programming experience.
• Contributor or maintainer of open-source packages.

• Own parts of the core backend infrastructure written in Python and Rust.
• Lead large, complex initiatives end-to-end with minimal guidance.
• Reduce incident rates across the platform.
• Resolve stability and complex production issues.
• Manage technical responsibilities related to the SOC 2 compliance process.
• Improve development velocity while maintaining high reliability.
