Software Engineering Technical Leader, Backend Services - Isovalent

Isovalent, part of Cisco, is founded by the creators of Cilium and eBPF. They develop Cisco Secure Workload, a flagship security product providing workload protection and micro-segmentation as part of the Hybrid Mesh Firewall solution. The teams are building next-generation products for securing workloads and AI infrastructure.

• Minimum 9+ years experience building software systems in programming languages such as Go, C++, or Java.
• Experience in technical leadership within software engineering.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree with 11+ years related experience, Master's with 9+ years, PhD with 4+ years, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in computer science fundamentals including algorithms, systems, databases, performance engineering, and security architecture.
• Schema and data modeling design experience.
• Experience with large-scale event processing architectures.
• Systems programming and performance engineering experience.
• Knowledge of security architecture and database design.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Programming experience using cloud APIs for AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Embrace agile methodologies with rapid prototyping and feedback.
• Enjoy architecting, designing, and brainstorming customer-facing solutions.

• Provide technical leadership to a team working on backend service solutions.
• Build solutions for telemetry collection and processing at scale.
• React to environmental changes and render policies to numerous enforcement points.
• Implement API endpoints with minimal latency handling large data volumes.
• Operate within highly complex distributed system environments with unique failure modes.
