Software Engineer II

Guidewire Software is a global company focused on transforming the property and casualty insurance industry. It operates a $500-million platform serving millions of customers worldwide. The Krakow team develops the Guidewire Cloud Platform, built on AWS, using Kubernetes and Terraform, which enables deployment and management of Guidewire Insurance Platform solutions.

• Minimum 2 years of relevant programming experience with a strong foundation in algorithms and data structures.
• Proficiency in Java or another programming language with willingness to learn Java quickly.
• Familiarity with object-oriented design patterns, Clean Code principles, Test-Driven Development (TDD), code reviews, and pair programming.
• Experience in developing microservices architecture.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a sense of ownership and drive.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Ability to embrace AI and apply data-driven insights for continuous improvement.

Nice to have:

• Experience with public cloud providers, preferably AWS (including EKS, DynamoDB, IAM, SQS, S3).
• Experience building platform software using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native technologies.
• Familiarity with the Spring ecosystem (Core, Boot, Data, etc.).

• Clarify requirements and break down user stories within the Guidewire Cloud Platform.
• Build and improve InsuranceSuite deployment workflows including selective and blue-green deployments, scaling, rollback, and restore operations.
• Write clean Java and Spring Boot code with appropriate unit, integration, and acceptance tests.
• Work with Kubernetes and AWS-based platform services to manage application resources and deployment states.
• Participate in code reviews, CI/CD, and production troubleshooting using logs, metrics, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with team members, SRE, and other Guidewire Cloud Platform teams to enhance reliability, observability, and release automation.

This role requires in-office attendance for 10 days per month (last week Monday through Thursday, and Tuesday and Wednesday in other weeks).
