Senior Software Engineer - Streams - Observability

• Ability to work in a remote-first, highly distributed environment with strong verbal and written communication.
• Proficient in analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills with the ability to find efficient solutions.
• Critical thinking, positivity, autonomy, and adaptability.
• Expertise in at least one of Java, Golang, and Ruby, with willingness to learn and work across multiple codebases.
• Clear written communication and proficiency working in remote distributed teams.
• Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code while owning final outcomes.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with observability tools and concepts (tracing, metrics, logging), especially experience or interest in OpenTelemetry.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with JRuby development.
• Open source software development experience.
• Knowledge of stream processing platforms such as Kafka, database technologies such as Postgres or MySQL, and network technologies like TCP, UDP, and HTTP.
• Exposure to the Elastic stack.

• Design and implement new features for Logstash and its plugins in Java and JRuby.
• Design, build, and operate core backend services for the Streams program in Golang.
• Add new features and contribute to the OpenTelemetry Collector in Golang.
• Solve distributed systems problems at scale.
• Maintain, update, and improve existing code and dependencies with automated test coverage.
• Engage with public GitHub repositories and community forums.
• Provide Pull Request reviews and guidance to peers.
• Collaborate with other teams to drive product goals.
• Work together with the support organization to assist customers, including participation in an on-call rotation.
