Technical Safety and Fire Engineering Lead

Google's Global Security and Resilience Services (GSRS) team is focused on safety, security, and resilience integrated into every facet of Google. This role supports EMEA regional governance, audit, and validation of fire and life safety programs across high-rise buildings, laboratories, and commercial portfolios.

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Risk Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Fire Risk Assessment Certification (Level 4 Diploma or equivalent).
• 10 years of experience in fire engineering, technical auditing, and life safety governance across high-rise, laboratory, or commercial portfolios.
• Experience auditing buildings.

Nice to have:

• Relevant international safety and fire prevention credentials, including CFPS (NFPA), CFPA Europe Diploma, or NEBOSH.
• Ability to review technical drawings, critique evacuation models, and audit third-party reports.
• Membership in recognized fire safety bodies such as the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), or Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE).

• Author and govern regional fire policies based on European and international frameworks such as the UK Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Order.
• Review, audit, and validate architectural plans and MEP fire strategies for new builds and fit-outs.
• Standardize and manage a regional Fire Risk Assessment program, including quality assurance audits on third-party assessments.
• Serve as regional SME translating UK standards (Approved Document B, BS 9999/9991) and international codes (NFPA 101/5000, UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, German standards).
• Manage relationships with fire engineering consultancies and risk assessors under performance SLAs to ensure deliverable quality.
