Senior Data Scientist

DuckDuckGo is an online protection company with a remote-first team of over 300 employees. Founded in 2008 and profitable since 2014, it has annual revenue exceeding $100 million USD. Millions use its browser on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, alongside its search engine and subscription services. The company also offers private AI tools including Duck.ai for private ChatGPT and other AI interactions.

• 7+ years of experience in Data Science with proven ability to lead high-complexity projects from scoping to production with minimal direction
• Proficiency in at least two of: deploying and iterating on ML in production, developing and deploying NLP solutions, working with LLMs including fine-tuning and AI-assisted development, and conducting Bayesian marketing campaign analysis
• Ability to write production-grade code in Python or a comparable high-level language
• Advanced SQL and query optimization skills, familiarity with columnar databases such as BigQuery, Clickhouse, Redshift, or Druid; experience with BI tools like Tableau or Power BI is a plus
• Ability to design, implement, and analyze experiments across product surfaces and derive insights from sparse or privacy-constrained data
• Effective collaboration skills with product teams

• Define core growth metrics for products and build infrastructure to monitor trends and anomalies
• Measure impact of major marketing campaigns for Duck.ai and translate data into actionable decisions
• Build monitoring pipelines to detect unexpected shifts in search traffic patterns
• Expand evaluation datasets for page context understanding in complex scenarios
• Improve trigger systems determining when AI-assisted answers appear in DuckDuckGo Search, balancing quality and privacy

• Role requires passing a background check as a condition of joining
