Senior Software Engineer

HSBC Service Delivery is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join their DHP team. The role focuses on platform engineering and developer experience, acting as a link between infrastructure and development.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in leadership or technical lead roles in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE.
• Solid understanding of internet and HTTP workings including DNS, TLS, load balancing, reverse proxies, service meshes, and API gateways.
• Strong programming ability in one or more of: Java, JavaScript, Python, or Clojure.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and InfluxDB.
• Proven experience managing critical production incidents and proactive problem solving.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and networking fundamentals (nice to have).
• Hands-on experience with KVM/VMware virtualization (nice to have).

• Partner with Product Owners to understand requirements and break them into deliverables.
• Design and build scalable microservices with high observability.
• Own deliverables end-to-end from design to deployment and meet timelines.
• Provide rapid production support and perform root cause analysis.
• Act as a trusted technical consultant for platform users.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and coordinate stakeholders.
• Manage technical debt and maintain security and vulnerability posture.
• Mentor junior team members and initiate ideas into production.
