Senior Staff Software Engineer, Home and Health

Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies affecting billions of users. The Platforms and Devices team works across computing platforms (desktop, mobile, applications), first-party devices, combining AI, software, and hardware to create innovative user experiences worldwide.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software engineering, focusing on backend architecture, distributed systems, and large-scale data processing.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
• Experience operating as a technical leader overseeing multiple parallel projects and setting technical direction for multiple teams.

Nice to have:

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 5 years in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction with 3 years in complex, matrixed organizations.
• Experience integrating generative AI tools or Large Language Model (LLM) interfaces into workflows.
• Experience managing complex authentication systems, token handling, and legacy user migrations.
• Deep domain expertise in health data systems, data reconciliation, and wearable device integrations.
• Strong background in developing and optimizing automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and developer productivity tools.

• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
• Influence and coach a distributed team of Engineers.
• Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
