Principal Android Engineer (Kotlin/Compose)

• 8+ years of Android development experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, and large-scale multi-module architectures.
• Proven experience leading architecture initiatives in large, multi-team applications including staged rollouts and crash/ANR reduction.
• Ability to become productive quickly in a large codebase and confidently make technical decisions.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Design Patterns, SOLID principles, and clean coding practices.

Nice to have:

• Experience with application performance optimization, startup performance improvements, navigation frameworks, or automotive-related projects.
• Experience working as a contractor embedded within product teams.

• Own the app's most ambiguous and high-risk initiatives from problem definition to production release.
• Define technical direction, create solution designs and architectural decision records.
• Drive application stability, performance, and overall app health improvements.
• Work across the full Kotlin/Compose codebase including UI, state management, data layers, networking, SDK integrations, and build systems.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and stakeholders to clarify scope and identify risks with solutions.
• Lead design reviews and promote high standards for testing, monitoring, and release processes.
• Investigate and resolve complex crashes, ANRs, and regressions including threading and third-party SDK issues.
• Mentor senior engineers to ensure knowledge sharing and sustainable decision-making.
• Present and demonstrate solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.
