Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies impacting billions of users. The Technical Infrastructure team builds and maintains data centers and Google platforms, ensuring reliable and fast user experiences globally. The role focuses on developing unified debugging, profiling, and analytics tools, including machine learning for anomaly detection in Google Cloud control plane systems.

• PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.
• Preferred experience with performance analysis tools and techniques like profiling and tracing.
• Practical experience with data structures or algorithms through coursework, research, internships, or open-source.
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Go.
• Knowledge of operating systems and computer architecture.
• Excellent research, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Conduct in-depth performance analysis of VMs, identifying bottlenecks and developing performance models.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers, communicate findings, and contribute to technical documentation.
• Design and conduct benchmarks to evaluate optimizations.
• Develop and patent novel optimization techniques.
• Share research results with the broader community through publications.
