They build digital infrastructure and AI for aid and scientific inquiry, including surveillance of HIV and malaria, and nutrient analysis of crops and soils, operating at national scale in several African countries. Their funding comes from philanthropic and governmental organizations such as the Global Fund, Gates Foundation, CDC, and USAID.

Wymagania

  • 6+ years of infrastructure or systems engineering experience, with at least 1–2 years in a lead role
  • Ability to scope, plan, delegate technical work, and hold self and others accountable
  • Broad knowledge of Linux internals, networking, databases, containers, hardware performance, security
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals: version control, readable code, tests, robust design, basic data structures and algorithms
  • Working proficiency in English (≥ C1 spoken and written; ≥ 45 wpm typed)
  • Clear communication skills in writing and conversation
  • Social intelligence and emotional resilience to work across cultures, time zones, and high-stakes situations

Nice to have:

  • Experience with NixOS, Kubernetes, Terraform
  • Experience with bare metal hardware selection and on-site setup
  • Ethical hacking experience
  • Experience with programming and/or math competitions
  • Willingness to go on an adventure
  • Domain knowledge or interest in sustainable development goals, especially public health, agriculture, and assisting developing countries

Obowiązki

  • Own and evolve the infrastructure architecture, tooling strategy, and long-term technical decisions
  • Work with declarative tooling (NixOS, k3s, terraform) primarily on bare metal servers with some cloud
  • Plan infrastructure layout, select components, test, and deploy them
  • Plan and lead building of bare metal infrastructure for deployment in low to middle income countries
  • Handle internal and external communication
  • Participate in hiring, evaluate and interview candidates
  • Optional travel to learn about problems and set up hardware in local data centers

Inne informacje

The role requires a full-time commitment physically based in Warsaw, Poland, with a hybrid of remote and in-person work throughout the week. At least 2-3 days per week in the office are expected. Working hours are flexible.
