Senior Software Engineer - Frontend - Consumer

Payward is the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks. Kraken, founded in 2011, is a long-standing crypto platform trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions worldwide, offering spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services. The Consumer team owns the Kraken app experience used worldwide with a stack based on React on web and React Native on mobile.

• 6+ years professional software development experience focused on consumer-facing web/mobile products.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript and the React ecosystem with strong opinions on state management, data fetching, and component architecture.
• Production experience with React Native and cross-platform mobile development, including App Store and Google Play release pipelines.
• Experience with Next.js, specifically App Router and React Server Components.
• Hands-on experience with A/B testing, feature flags, and experimentation frameworks (e.g., LaunchDarkly, Optimizely).
• Experience with WebSockets or Server-Sent Events for real-time UI updates.
• Strong testing culture with Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Familiarity with build tools like Vite, Webpack, and CI/CD pipelines, plus performance profiling.
• Experience in fintech, crypto, payments, or other high-trust consumer products.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Active AI-assisted development workflow using tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot with engineering rigor.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality consumer-facing features across web (React) and mobile (React Native).
• Own full lifecycle of product work: discovery, design, release, monitoring, experimentation, iteration.
• Drive A/B testing and experimentation strategies including hypothesis formation, experiment design, result analysis.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, and Mobile engineers to create coherent experiences.
• Make opinionated technical decisions on framework and architecture.
• Set standards for functional correctness, accessibility, performance, and testability.
• Mentor engineers across seniority levels.
• Lead and collaborate on complex cross-platform initiatives.
• Stay updated on React tooling, React Server Components, concurrent features, and streaming.
• Use AI tools natively across the software development lifecycle.
