Senior Software Engineer - Rust - Payward Services

Payward is the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks. It has built a globally accessible financial infrastructure platform for open finance over 15 years. Payward Services is an enterprise infrastructure platform that integrates trading, payments, funding, and digital asset services, providing liquidity, custody, compliance, risk management, and settlement capabilities for fintechs, banks, brokerages, and payment providers.

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficient in writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust.
• Security-first mindset during system design to ensure robustness.
• Ability to debug issues across OS, network, and application stacks autonomously.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and technologies including RPC protocols, Kafka, and event-driven systems.
• Experience collaborating with product teams to gather requirements and design systems.
• Take complete end-to-end ownership of systems and libraries.
• Provide mentorship to engineers and contribute to defining technical culture.

Nice to have:

• Experience building B2B focused products, ideally in fintech or crypto space.

• Design and implement robust Rust services and libraries powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code that supports revenue-critical systems with safety and security.
• Collaborate on large-scale distributed systems architecture, translating product requirements into resilient, low-latency solutions.
• Work alongside experienced Rust engineers contributing to an engineering culture.
