LLM Engineer - Freelancer

Monterail is a team of developers and designers building meaningful software for clients around the globe, specializing in high-profile web development and strong product and UX design expertise.

• Strong software engineering skills with Python, Node.js, or Ruby
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs into production systems, such as OpenAI and Anthropic
• Ability to design pragmatic AI solutions within existing software architectures
• Experience building RAG pipelines, embeddings, and vector search
• Understanding of AI systems' cost, latency, and reliability constraints
• Ability to work independently with clients and manage expectations
• Background in big data or data pipelines is a plus
• English language proficiency at B2/C1 level
• Availability for part-time or full-time engagement under a B2B contract

• Add AI functionality into existing Python, Node.js, and Ruby codebases
• Build LLM-powered features such as chat, summaries, classification, smart search, and document Q&A
• Design lightweight RAG pipelines using embeddings and vector search
• Work with vector databases including pgvector, Pinecone, and Qdrant
• Implement safe, reliable LLM endpoints with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Azure
• Collaborate directly with clients to define AI features and reduce manual effort
• Advise clients on the appropriate use of AI, balancing latency, accuracy, and cost trade-offs

Role open on a freelance (B2B) contract basis; availability for part-time or full-time work required.
