Senior Software Engineer - Python

Guidewire Software is a platform trusted by property and casualty insurers worldwide, combining digital, core, analytics, and AI as a cloud service. The Pricing and Rating Team is responsible for building and maintaining an insurance pricing platform using a modern technology stack including Python, machine learning libraries, and cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes. The company operates globally with more than 3,500 employees and serves over 540 insurers in 40 countries.

• Minimum 6 years of experience in Python development
• Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, and Celery
• Experience with high availability systems using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native technologies
• Experience with public cloud providers, preferably AWS (including Kubernetes, IAM, S3)
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures
• Experience with test automation (TDD, BDD) preferably in environments without formal QA roles
• Expertise in profiling and performance optimization on code, database, and infrastructure levels
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Willingness to attend occasional face-to-face meetings

Nice to have:

• Data engineering experience or interest
• Familiarity with NumPy, pandas, and Polars

• Develop Python applications using frameworks such as FastAPI and Flask with extensive use of SQLAlchemy and Pydantic
• Analyze requirements and propose solutions, including building proof of concepts and production-grade, well-tested solutions
• Support, optimize, and maintain services to meet SLOs
• Collaborate with team members through pull request reviews, RFCs/ADRs, and agile ceremonies
• Take ownership of quality through test automation, with knowledge of TDD and BDD preferred
• Profile and optimize performance at code, database, and infrastructure levels

This role is primarily remote with flexible working hours. Occasional in-person meetings are required.
