Software Engineer, Layer1

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience with at least 3 years.
• Expert knowledge of C, C++, and Python.
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux.
• Knowledge of digital communication technologies such as modulation and signal encoding schemes is a plus.
• Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems is a plus.
• Experience with low-level hardware components is a plus.
• Applied understanding of software engineering principles.
• Strong problem solving and software troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to independently design solutions and implement features.
• Ability to work effectively in small teams.

• Interface with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to develop new Layer1 features.
• Architect, design, and manage the development of Layer1 features.
• Develop and maintain features using C, C++, and Python; contribute to functional and design specifications; build automated tests and test infrastructure.
• Work with hardware and manufacturing teams to bring new Layer1 components like Phys and Transceivers to market.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers for optimal software control interfaces.
• Provide technical leadership across features, projects, and tools.
• Analyze and resolve problems in customer networks with support engineers and customers.
• Work with System Test Engineers to diagnose and fix test issues.
• Mentor new and junior engineers to support their onboarding in the software development environment.
