Software Engineer - Rust - Consumer

Payward is the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks. The Consumer team at Kraken builds applications that expose Kraken’s product offering to the mass market, aiming to onboard the next 100 million people to crypto.

• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficient in writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust.
• Security-first mindset in system design for robustness.
• Ability to autonomously debug issues across the stack (OS, network, application).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and technologies including RPC protocols, Kafka, and event-driven systems.
• Effective collaboration with product teams to gather requirements and constraints.
• Capability to take complete end-to-end ownership of systems and libraries.
• Provide mentorship to other engineers and contribute to defining the technical culture.

• Design and implement robust Rust services and libraries that power trading, payments, and crypto experiences focusing on reliability and performance.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code that supports revenue-critical systems without compromising safety or security.
• Collaborate on large-scale distributed systems architecture, translating product requirements into resilient, low-latency solutions.
• Work alongside experienced Rust engineers, contributing to a high-performance, product-driven engineering culture.
