UI Engineer 5 - Studio Foundation Apps Engineering

The Studio Foundation Apps Engineering team at Netflix is building a next-generation media review and collaboration platform to support global feature films and television series production. The team develops a robust, cross-platform, high-performance system managing thousands of work-in-progress media files annually. They focus on delivering a secure, high-fidelity playback experience with DRM, multi-factor authentication, and visual watermarking, solving complex engineering challenges through a hybrid cross-platform architecture to provide system-native performance such as offline video playback and annotation. The team owns the entire content lifecycle from media ingestion, processing, and packaging to implementing collaboration features tightly integrated with the Studio's internal systems, enhancing media interaction during production. The team is internationally diverse with members from various educational backgrounds and roles including product managers, designers, developers, and data scientists.

• Passionate and knowledgeable about UI engineering and related technologies.
• Experience building enterprise applications with React, TypeScript, React-Native, and internal UI frameworks.
• Familiarity with backend services built primarily with Java Spring Boot, using GraphQL and gRPC.
• Experience or knowledge of media processing pipelines, transcoding, DRM systems, or cloud-based media services such as AWS Elemental is a plus.
• Familiarity with storage and metadata services like S3 and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions is beneficial.
• Strong sense of ownership, independence, initiative, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to recognize, communicate, and lead technical improvements in UI engineering best practices.
• Ability to influence and inform architectural decisions while encouraging diverse perspectives and constructive challenges.
