Manager, Engineering - AI Search Platform

Content Infrastructure & Solutions (CIS) supports engineers working on content, studio, and enterprise applications by providing scalable infrastructure for large-scale media, assets, data, workflow, and communication use cases at Netflix. Connected Enterprise Foundations (CEF), part of CIS, delivers fully managed data, search, workflow, and messaging platforms, aiming for a connected enterprise experience consisting of consistent, composable platform primitives. The AI Search Platform team owns Graph Search, Netflix’s enterprise search-as-a-service platform, serving approximately 19,500 weekly active users with 13.5 million API calls per day and 233 production indices containing 13.3 billion documents. The team of eight engineers based in Warsaw operates the platform end-to-end, including on-call duties, and has developed AI-powered operational tooling adopted by other CIS teams.

• Experience building and operating highly reliable, large-scale platform systems with 24x7 on-call responsibilities.
• Strong technical acumen in distributed systems and architectural strategy.
• Experience building and leading inclusive engineering teams, fostering accountability and ownership.
• Ability to promote open communication and provide constructive feedback.
• Strong strategic thinking with a platform mindset and ability to articulate clear product and technical vision.
• Ability to prioritize strategically, align investments with business goals, and adapt based on evidence.
• Rigor in decision-making to reduce ambiguity using data, stakeholder input, and experiments.
• Experience collaborating effectively with product managers and TPMs on strategy and execution.
• Strong partnership and influencing skills across globally distributed teams and stakeholders.
• Track record of delivering critical priorities reliably while shaping investment priorities.
• Fluency with AI-assisted engineering and understanding of safe adoption practices, including review, testing, and change risk management.

• Lead and coach a team of software engineers, fostering an inclusive and accountable culture.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering leadership to set vision, strategy, and adoption path for AI search and Smart Tables platform capabilities.
• Align roadmaps across Graph Search, Entity Graph, Data Dictionary, Unified Data Architecture, and Communications Platform with Knowledge Foundations and CEF.
• Serve as technical advisor, guiding engineers through complex and ambiguous decisions.
• Define and prioritize work based on measurable business and organizational impact.
• Own operational excellence of a Tier 1 platform, including 24x7 on-call responsibilities, capacity planning, performance, observability, and SLOs.
• Drive AI-first engineering practices, ensuring safety and quality in AI-assisted workflows.
• Communicate technical and product ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Balance near-term business needs with foundational technical investments.
• Build partnerships across engineering teams globally to maximize business impact.
• Build and nurture an inclusive team culture promoting empowerment and respect.
