Platform Software Engineer

At CloudFerro, technologies are built that are used daily by Europe’s leading science and space-sector institutions such as ESA, EUMETSAT, ECMWF, Mercator Ocean International, DLR and EGI. The company works closely with the Earth Observation domain to support analyses and improve understanding of the planet. CloudFerro is developing a sovereign European cloud platform from the ground up as an alternative to global hyperscalers. The platform is a complete PaaS stack based on Kubernetes and open-source technologies including serverless, managed databases, MLOps, monitoring, and observability.

• Experience building applications on Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Go and Python, with ability to write clean and testable code.
• Understanding of REST API design including CRUD, error handling, and versioning.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes fundamentals: deployments, services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, RBAC.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Copilot.

Nice to have:

• Operational experience with databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Knowledge of Harbor or other container registries.
• Experience working with HashiCorp Vault on Kubernetes.
• Exposure to the Kubernetes operator pattern.
• Knowledge of Terraform, even at module-writing level.
• Experience with containerization and CI/CD tools like Docker and pipelines.

• Full ownership of platform services: development and maintenance of DBaaS (Severalnines CCX), Registry (Harbor), and Vault / Key Manager from implementation, APIs, documentation to operational stability.
• Integration with shared services including IAM, billing, and quota systems developed by the Common Services team.
• End-to-end delivery across full delivery lifecycle: Kubernetes integration, API endpoint design, and final documentation.
• Engineering collaboration through code reviews, pair programming, and jointly shaping technical and quality standards.
