Senior Technical Product Manager / Senior Technical Proxy Product Owner (Java)

We operate in a remote-first environment and work closely with clients as both technology advisors and hands-on delivery partners.

• Technical background such as Computer Science or Engineering and/or previous hands-on software development experience.
• Experience working closely with complex Java architectures.
• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager, Technical Product Owner, or similar role within complex enterprise IT environments.
• Strong technical orientation; comfortable discussing implementation details directly with senior developers.
• Strong practical understanding of REST APIs, JSON, Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, and backend integration flows.
• Good understanding of relational databases and ability to write SQL queries for data inspection and verification.
• Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, structure complex problems, and drive decisions forward.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Miro or Excalidraw, and AI-assisted tools such as Claude or ChatGPT.

Nice to have:

• Experience with SOAP web services or legacy enterprise architectures.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise production support and incident triage.
• Previous experience in industries such as Fintech, Insurance, Travel, Payments, or other integration-heavy environments.

Technical product management & delivery:

• Manage, stabilize, and evolve an existing complex enterprise Java application.
• Translate complex business requirements into actionable technical tasks and priorities for engineering teams.
• Own, refine, and prioritize the technical product backlog.
• Balance new feature requests with bug fixes, production issues, and technical debt.
• Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and delivery follow-up in close collaboration with backend developers.

Technical analysis & system oversight:

• Analyze REST APIs, JSON payloads, endpoints, and integration flows between internal services and external systems.
• Use tools such as Postman and SQL to investigate production issues, trace data flows, and support root-cause analysis.
• Work with API documentation including Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Navigate legacy systems and Java-based architecture to help maintain platform stability and predictability.

Stakeholder & incident management:

• Triage production incidents and bug reports, distinguishing critical blockers from lower-priority issues.
• Coordinate technical discussions between business stakeholders and engineering teams.
• Maintain clear visibility of project risks, technical blockers, dependencies, and delivery roadmaps.
• Support effective communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
