Senior Software Developer (JCP Core Foundation Licensing and Quotation)

The role is within the Cloud Platform department, specifically the Licensing & Billing team, which manages the commercial model and billing processes.

• Proven experience building and operating backend services on the JVM platform using Kotlin or Java.
• Solid working knowledge of relational databases including transactions, isolation levels, locking, indexing, and live schema migrations (preferably PostgreSQL).
• Deep understanding of distributed system patterns such as idempotency, retry strategies, eventual consistency, and data reconciliation.
• Experience performing live data migrations or system changes without downtime using feature flags and staged rollouts.
• Ability to design versioned, backward-compatible APIs for engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers like Kafka.
• Ability to diagnose, debug, and resolve production incidents in complex environments.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

• Design, build, and operate backend services for customer entitlements and usage billing.
• Own end-to-end data flows from ingestion of licensing data to enforcement of quotas and recording consumption.
• Evolve the domain model to support new commercial structures combining seat-based and usage-based plans.
• Design integrations with external systems ensuring idempotency, ordering, reconciliation, and eventual consistency.
• Plan and execute live data migrations with feature flags, dual writes, backfills, and verification.
• Build observability with defined invariants, metrics, and alerts to detect silent divergences.
• Design internal APIs focused on versioning, backward compatibility, and developer experience.
• Improve system performance and reliability under production load while decommissioning legacy subsystems.
• Write integration tests against real dependencies and maintain test infrastructure.
• Investigate production incidents, identify root causes, and implement lasting fixes.
