Distinguished Engineer, Agentic SDLC & Non‑Linear Productivity

• 10+ years of software engineering experience including 4+ years in senior technical leadership
• Deep expertise in AI and ML systems including large language models, agentic frameworks, and autonomous workflows at production scale
• Proven experience in leading technical experimentation, defining evaluation frameworks, and scalable architecture decisions
• Strong background in scalable, multi-tenant distributed systems with fault tolerance and observability
• Experience designing human-in-the-loop controls, safety guardrails, and responsible AI practices
• Ability to align cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, Data and ML) on complex challenges
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing across teams without direct authority
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed environment with strong asynchronous communication
• Familiarity with GitLab's DevSecOps platform, CI/CD, and software development lifecycle is a strong plus

• Define and continuously refine technical vision for autonomous, agentic SDLC aligned with GitLab's product strategy
• Identify and prioritize significant productivity opportunities across the SDLC
• Translate ambiguous problems into concrete roadmaps with cross-team collaboration
• Lead hands-on experiments and prototypes to validate agentic workflows for engineering tasks
• Design and implement reference architectures including orchestration, safety, observability, and control mechanisms
• Define evaluation frameworks for measuring agentic workflow impact
• Own and drive high-impact internal use cases from concept through adoption
• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed agentic workflows into development processes ensuring trust and resilience
• Define and track core productivity metrics tied to business outcomes
• Capture and codify reusable patterns and libraries for broader team adoption
• Work with Product Management and Engineering leadership to productize validated internal patterns
• Ensure compliance with multi-tenant, data governance, and security requirements
• Serve as escalation point for technical and architectural decisions on agentic workflows and AI safety
• Mentor senior engineers in AI and agentic efforts
• Write design documents, architecture narratives, and decision records
• Represent GitLab in external forums on AI-assisted development and related topics
• Partner with Security, Compliance, and Reliability teams to ensure responsible use and operational resilience of agentic services
