Senior Fullstack Engineer (ReactJS, NodeJS)

SwingDev—a hippo company is the Polish branch of a fast-growing InsurTech product company – Hippo Insurance. The company focuses on making home insurance smarter and more proactive by using technology to bring fresh solutions. They create digital products that support customers with a focus on impactful results.

• At least 5 years of hands-on commercial experience building web applications using React, Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and shipping production services, comfortable with API design, microservices, and system design patterns.
• Practical knowledge of at least one relational database system such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Experience implementing the test pyramid (unit, integration, end-to-end tests).
• Independent problem-solver comfortable with ambiguity and knowing when to ask questions.
• Ability to lead discussions and decisions regarding software design and architecture, communicating to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Responsibility and ownership in delivering high-quality work.
• Effective utilization of good security practices.
• Enjoy mentoring and improving other engineers via code review, pairing, and mentoring.
• Willingness to learn and expand skills as projects evolve.
• Good command of English (written and spoken).
• Availability for occasional meetings across time zones (Poland and US) averaging about 2 evening meetings per week.

• Design and build user-facing features end to end, including React frontends, Node.js services, backend-for-frontend layers, and interactions with data stores and third-party APIs.
• Own technical direction by breaking down large, ambiguous problems into increments and making architecture decisions.
• Partner early with Product Managers and Designers to challenge requirements and scope.
• Support reliable databases and APIs for real-time automated decision-making.
• Deploy software using industry-standard tools such as Kubernetes clusters and Lambda functions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues analyzing code, data, and system behavior, implementing timely fixes.
• Ensure security practices are deeply integrated to protect user data.
• Implement automated test suites following the test pyramid for high code quality.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and provide high-quality code reviews.
• Take ownership and responsibility for delivered work.
• Develop skills and learn about technology business operations in the US market.
